Wow! Would you believe my last journal entry was about How To Train Your Dragon 2
? (By the way, I still love that film two years on!).
As you might notice, it's been four years since I've joined Deviantart and ... well, I've grown up a whole lot since then and most of these posts and art are frankly embarrassing to have online. I'll be making very drastic changes to my account this year. Mind you, I'm not very active on this site. Hence, these changes may be very gradual.
Major changes are:
- My change in username from 'wangyaosbiggestfan' to 'Ineedarealitycheck'. (Once I become a 'Core Member' ...) Ineedarealitycheck is my go-to username for personal online accounts now. realitycheckmyart is my art Tumblr. It's been recently opened though, so there's not much to see other than a few WIPs and one completed fanart piece. I won't be uploading most of the fanart I've posted onto Deviantart onto this art Tumblr. Most of them are too old to be viewed online anymore.
- Deletion of most submissions I have uploaded to Deviantart. All of the memes will go. Maybe except for the Influence maps; they're most tasteful than others. I'm tempted to delete all my fanart on here but I may spare a few that are adequate enough to still be online/are already uploaded to my main Tumblr.
- Overhaul of my profile account. I'll be reshuffling widgets, editing profile facts and exiting groups. Since I'm not very active on Deviantart anymore, it's a disservice of me to continue with them when they expect active members.
If you're not that active on Deviantart anymore, why don't you delete your account?
Good question. I think it's because I'm still slightly attached to Deviantart. I'm not confident in deleting it yet. Also, Deviantart has a very artsy community I'd like to rekindle my membership with. Tumblr is wonderfully artsy in it's own way, but it's like the Twitter cousin of Deviantart (if that simile makes any sense ...). Nothing wrong with that of course! In fact, it's a fantastic space to share art! But Deviantart is solidly old-fashioned and I'd like to expand my art media platforms. Many artists have a Tumblr, Twitter and an Instagram. I would like to re-add Deviantart to my Tumblr line up.realitycheckmyart.tumblr?
Currently, I'm only keen on posting my art on my art Tumblr. It's fast, efficient and I have a mobile app for it on my ipad (extra efficient! Since I draw on my ipad!). If my Deviantart channel cleans up well after this major overhaul, I may start uploading my art on here again too. Well, the intention of this overhaul is
to make me happy enough to use this account again ... Ha ... Ha ... We'll see! This might just be my miraculous return to Deviantart!
I can't make any promises about how well this transition will go. If things really look down, I may finally decide to delete this account. It may be too much for me to cycle between two art accounts. If that becomes the case, I hope that those who have followed me, liked my fanart, commented and favourited that you've had a bit of fun while it lasted.
Here's to a brand new start or the end of an era.
